Dermot O’Leary and wife Dee Koppang caused a stir at the Disney+ Rivals screening in London with their overly casual outfits: “Are they heading to the grocery store or what??”

Dermot O’Leary cut a smart casual figure in a suede bomber jacket as he attended Disney+’s Rivals screening in London with his glamorous wife Dee Koppang.

The TV presenter, 51, teamed the bomber jacket with a navy blue shirt, which he left casually unbuttoned, and sported a plain grey T-shirt underneath.

To complete his red carpet look, Dermot sported a pair of dark blue trousers and brown suede shoes.

Meanwhile, his wife Dee, 45, cut a stylish figure in a white shirt dress and a black coat with satin lapels.

She kept warm in a pair of sheer black tights and added inches to her frame with a pair of stud-embellished platform heels.

To complete her ensemble, Dee toted her essentials around in a brown cross-body bag and further accessorised with some drop earrings, a gold-toned necklace, and a layer of bracelets.

The Disney+ adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s Rivals will take an ‘equal opportunities’ approach to nudity, according to the show’s executive producer.

The streaming channel has promised to bring a ‘2020s lens’ to the 1980s classic – a notoriously politically incorrect tale of sex and scandal in the English social elite.

The story focuses on the tense rivalry between Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell) and Lord Tony Baddingham (David Tennant).

The racy eight-part series is set to air on October 18 – but many viewers have been left wondering how its themes would be translated for a modern audience.

In an interview with The Times, writer and executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins, who has previously worked on EastEnders, has shed light on the much anticipated new TV series.

He said: ‘We’ve been equal opportunities in our nudity. There’s a willy for every pair of t***.’

He added: ‘Jilly comes across as fluffy and lovely – but she’s got a steely eye when it comes to the sexism, the homophobia, the racism, class.’

According to Disney+, Rivals is a 'joyously mischievous rollercoaster ride, steamy in its love stories and packed with larger-than-life characters' the series will be released on October 18 in the UK and internationally and on Hulu in the United States

According to Disney+, Rivals is a ‘joyously mischievous rollercoaster ride, steamy in its love stories and packed with larger-than-life characters.’

The streaming service continues that it brings a ‘2020s lens to the 1980s’, offering a ‘raw exploration of a complicated moment in British history when class, race, sex, wealth, and sexual liberation meant that, for the very privileged few, there were no limits to what they could achieve’.

In Jilly’s Rutshire Chronicles universe, marriages are largely of convenience, with wives accepting ‘boys will be boys’.

Men are applauded for their caddish tendencies – while weight is referenced in a way that would not be acceptable to a modern audience.

One wife proudly announces that she weighs seven stone and that anyone larger than a size six is fat. Another is referred to as ‘poor fat Sharon’.

It also features a powerful man approaching 40 hitching up with a young woman yet to turn 19.

The cast includes Poldark heartthrob Aidan, ex-Doctor Who David, Sex Education actress Bella Maclean and Alex Hassell, from the BBC fantasy series His Dark Materials.

Based on Jilly’s 1985 novel Rivals, it sees two broadcasting titans going to war over a woman.

The book, part of the Rutshire Chronicles, soared to the top of the charts and sold more than a million copies.

The Disney+ series Rivals will be released on October 18 in the UK and internationally and on Hulu in the United States.

Dermot’s appearance at the event comes after he shared an emotional tribute to his wife Dee on Instagram as he celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary.

The couple met when they were both working for the same television corporation and started dating in 2002 when they began a nine-year relationship, and Dermot proposed to her on a romantic trip to New York in 2011 (pictured last month)
