Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard break their silence on This Morning’s years-long snub from the NTAs, claiming they were excluded for “reporting the truth too much.”

This Morning was snubbed for a second year running at the National Television Awards.

The ITV programme lost out to The Chase for the Daytime Award on Wednesday night.

Addressing their snub on Thursday’s installment, Cat Deeley and Ben Shepard told their viewers that they needed a hug after they had quite a late night.

Opening the show Ben said: ‘I have put on a cozy cardigan on here because I feel like we need a warm hug because it was quite a late night.

Cat chipped in and said ‘I was, it is a long way. The O2 is a long way’, before Ben added: ‘Unless you live over that way’.

He then revealed: ‘We loved it. It was a really wonderful, joyous occasion to be with the team.

‘Alison and Dermott, we had such a laugh, they were sitting just in front of us. Alison is very distracting.’

Cat confessed: ‘We were kind of the naughty corner. When they put us all together like that, we are definitely the naughty corner.’

Then Ben rounded off the conversation by revealed that they ‘had a really fabulous night’.

But their viewers had little sympathy for the show’s loss as they claimed the show has ‘gone downhill’.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, viewers showed little sympathy when responding to show’s snub.

One penned: ‘The show isn’t going to win an award because it’s gone downhill! #thismorning’

On Wednesday night Holly Willoughby made her red carpet return as she joined This Morning successors Cat  and Ben at the National Television Awards at the London O2.

The presenter left the ITV morning show last October before her replacements Cat and Ben were finally whisked in in March.

Beaming from ear to ear, Holly, 43, led the glamour in a £30,000 glitzy strapless silver and black dress from luxury couture brand Kolchagov Barba which featured a high leg slit.

Meanwhile Cat, 47, looked sensational as she put on a stunning display in a simple silk red one-shoulder midi dress with gold strappy heels.

Posing beside her co-host, Ben looked ever his dashing self as he got suited and booted for to attend the awards for the first time since becoming This Morning’s new hosts.
