Katie Price has revealed she’s added yet another pet to her family, despite previously facing backlash from animal charities.

The former glamour model, 46, shared that she has acquired a Sphynx kitten called Daisy, and posed for snaps where she tenderly kissed and embraced the animal.

A well-bred sphynx kitten can typically cost around £800, and Katie revealed her new pet just weeks after sharing her last cat had to be put down.

Katie doesn’t have the best luck when it comes to pets after facing a slew of tragedies over the past six years, including the deaths of five dogs, a horse and even her chameleon, Marvin.

And PETA once again echoed their concerns surrounding Katie’s new pet, releasing a scathing statement where they slammed her for treating animals as ‘disposable toys.’

PETA Founder Ingrid Newkirk told MailOnline: ‘If there was a way to file an injunction to stop this serial animal killer, PETA would do so, as this woman doesn’t care about the lives she wastes or listen to vital advice and is still treating live animals like stuffed toys: as disposable.

‘If William Hill took totally tasteless bets, the odds would favour those betting on how little time this kitten has on Earth, given the hideous track record of animal deaths in Price’s custody. (No one could call it ”care”.)

‘Shame on Price and the greedy breeders who keep selling or ‘gifting’ animals to her as promotions.

‘PETA’s financial offer – of £5,000 if she agrees never to acquire any more animals – still stands, and we implore her to take us up on it.’

Katie recently admitted she was recently forced to have one of her pets put down just five months after bringing them home.

She sadly said goodbye to her cat called Frog after the feline developed an incurable neurological disease.

Opening up in her newly-released memoir This Is Me, Katie gushed about her and her boyfriend JJ Slater’s close bond with Frog before she shared the sad news.

Writing about her beloved pet, who regularly featured on her social media, Katie joked: ‘[He] is so naughty though, he got in the bath with me last night.

‘I probably shouldn’t say that. I’m sure people will tell me off for that, won’t they, Frog? He’s just come to sit on my shoulder, which is one of his favourite spots.’

However, going on to explain and she realised there was something wrong she continued: ‘A few weeks after writing this chapter, we noticed that Frog stopped jumping on the side of the kitchen.

‘Then he couldn’t jump on the sofa. Then he couldn’t jump up on the bed. There was something wrong with him so I took him to the vets.

‘He had a neurological disease. There was absolutely nothing I could do. Within days it had spread through his body right to the point that he couldn’t even go to the toilet on his own.

‘So I cuddled him in my arms and he had to be put to sleep. He was only five months old.’

Katie has also opened up in the memoir about the death of her daughter Princess’ dog Rolo.

The French bulldog suffocated at her home after apparently getting trapped in an electric armchair and despite receiving CPR he could not be saved.

Katie told YouTube followers at the time: ‘There was nothing they could do, but they did say he wouldn’t have died in pain, it was quick.’

Reflecting on his death, Katie wrote in her memoir: ‘The breeder we had bought the dog from had given us CBD oil to give this dog and I don’t know if Princess had given it too much or what.

‘But we knew it would sleep a lot, and that day it had gone under the reclining chair to sleep and no-one had realised and it had been crushed.

Back in February following reports Katie has given away her puppy Tank after ‘losing interest’, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) wrote an open letter to the star after she was seen with her new cat.

They offered Katie £5,000 if she signed a contract to not acquire another animal.

‘While your intentions may be good, the ever-growing number of animals who have either died under your supervision or been given away is impossible to ignore, and people are rightly concerned,’ PETA Vice President Elisa Allen wrote, in the letter shared by The Sun.

Frog isn’t Katie’s first Sphynx cat after she previously owned Dobby and Hagrid who were named after the characters in Harry Potter.

The star announced she was selling the cats for £1,300 each in December 2017 because her dogs didn’t get on with them, yet she continued to post photos of the cats on Instagram until 2021, so it is unclear whether she sold them.

The leading animal charity has made increasing calls for Katie to not have any more pets in her care after her protection dog Blade died in June last year after he was hit by a car.

PETA wrote in their letter: ‘Whatever you may offer as reasons for their suffering, relinquishment, or demise, the fact is that you are consistently harming these sensitive, sentient individuals, and I hope you agree that this is a solution.

‘Things have gone horribly wrong with many of the animals under her supervision’.

In response to the open letter, a representative of Katie’s told MailOnline: ‘Kate has asked PETA many times to have a conversation with her directly, but instead they continue to play the narrative out in the media.

‘If they want to have a direct conversation with Kate they can get in touch.

‘Isn’t it a waste of charity money or have they got funds available to give out to celebrities, which should be going towards animals?’
